Lester Lee Moving Up in the World Rankings
Last Update: December 11, 2013

One of the most improved juniors on the ITTF World Rankings is Vancouver's Lester Lee. Between August and December of 2013, Lee improved by 147 World Ranking spots. His biggest success to date came at the Hungarian Junior Open in Szombathely, Hungary. Team Taipei had only two players entered and was looking for a third - Canada had only one entry on the boys side: perfect match.

But Lee was not just along for the ride. In the group stage, he won his singles match to contribute to team success against Italy and the World Champion Academy team of the Austria's Werner Schlager Academy.

Lee continued his contributions to the team with a win against Slovakia and against a combined team of Thailand, Laos and Japan. Up to the semi-finals, the Canadian kept his vest clean. In the semi-finals and finals his taipei team members did the heavy lifting. With a 3-2 win against Germany and a 3-1 over Sweden, Team Taipei/Canada surpassed their seeding by five positions and took home the title.

Hungarian Junior Open Team Champion - a successful end to a junior career for Lester Lee.

Back in North America, the BC junior teamed up with 13-year old Jeremy Hazin (ON) and Mathew Lehmann (MB) to compete in the US Open Team Championships in Washington, DC. North America's largest tournament with over 800 table tennis players from around the globe is a mainstay on the North American calendar.

Three grueling days of competition saw the Canadian juniors win their division and Lester Lee smile victorious for a second time in one month.
