Finland Open, Antoine Bernadet

It is always great to hear from our Canadian National Team players. This time, Antoine Bernadet was competing in the 2016 Finland Open.

"The tournament went very well for me. First day was the team event, Marko and I lost 3-1 to a Finnish team, but I still had a good victory in the only single I played.”

The second day was the Men’s Single event. Antoine did not have the easiest draw with playing Viktor Yefimov (World Ranking 109) in the first round. The great thing about the Finland Open is, you play for every position, so at least 5-6 matches in total.

"I played a really good match and lost 4-2 against Viktor” says Antoine. He continous "I had 3 wins in a row after that including a Lithuanian player who was World Ranked 532. The next day I played for position 33 to 48 to finally end at the 39th position. I was seeded 74th at the beginning of the tournement and in my 10 matches I played only player ranked higher than me in the world ranking. I finished with 6 wins and 4 losts (I only losts to players ranked in the top 20 of the tournament.) I’m really happy with the way I played.”

Next up, more training in Sweden and the preparation for the 2017 Canadian Championships. All the best to you Antoine!
