Shanghai, China was the host for the 2016 World Cadet Challenge.
Throughout different North American tournaments and their world ranking, 4 Canadian Athletes qualified for this event. Ivy Liao and Isabelle Xiong (both from British Columbia), Edward Ly (Québec) and Alexander Bu (Ontario) will represent Team North America at this tournament featuring the best Cadet players (under 15 years old) from all over the world. The fifth Canadian on the team will be Coach Yong Jiang Liu (British Columbia).
Both North American Teams where faced with China in the Semi Finals. For the boys it was a 2-3 loss, while the girls lost with 1-3. While in the match for 3rd place, both the boys and girls Team lost against Europe. The girls got closer this time with a 2-3 loss, while the boys lost 0-3.
