Sara Yuen made the finals in the women's singles while suffering an ankle injury. Despite the injury, she pushed through tough matches against Carmen Lee and sister Stephanie Yuen to reach the finals.

Shirley Fu played very consistently throughout, arrived comfortably at the finals. Sara and Shirley split the first 4 games. Yet, Shirley picked up the 5th and 6th consecutively to earn gold
(11-6,8-11,11-9,9-11,11-8,11-6). Sara takes silver.

Aside from a very strong win by Hongtao Chen over 2011 Canadian Champion Pierre-Luc Hinse in the semi-finals (11-6,11-7,11-7,11-8), there were no unexpected results in the men's singles. Eugene Zhen Wang mastered the field, losing only a single game to Xavier Therien and one to Pierre-Luc Theriault. In the finals Chen did his best, but was no concern for Wang, who won gold decisively in four games (11-6,11-6,11-7,14-12)
