Para Team medal harvest in Buenos Aires at 2011 Copa Tango

12/12/2011 - Stephanie Chan (BC) and Masoud Mojtahed (BC) along with Para National Team Coach John Macpherson produced some very successful results in Buenos Aires at the last open ITTF PTT tournament of the year.

Stephanie took a Gold Medal in the Women's Standing Class 7-10 Team Event as well as a Silver Medal in the Women's Standing Class 8-10 Singles Event, losing a hard fought match in the finals to WR #9 in Class 9 Danielle De Jong of Holland (1:3; 7, -8, 11, 11).

Masoud reached the quarter-finals in Men's Standing Class 7 before losing at -8, -7, -7 to the eventual event Gold Medalist from France Stephane Messi world ranked #7. Masoud built upon that result to make it to the semi-finals in Men's Standing Class 6-7 Team Event before losing 1-3 to the eventual Gold Medalists from Czechoslovakia but recovering nicely to defeat the Israeli team 3-1 to earn the Bronze Medal.

Coach John Macpherson stated: "I am very proud of the results generated here by these Para Team members. It was the last open tournament of the year and there were some very tough European players here trying to earn qualifying points for the Paralympics in London next year. Great results from the players - both played well in all their matches against strong international opponents and hopefully will gain invitational slots to the Paralympics in London next year".
