2013 National Team Selection

The National Team Selection Policy has undergone some changes:

National Team Squad: the new structure still includes the ITTF's age categories. However, it now features the addition of the 'Shadow Squad' to identify athletes in the Training To Compete and Learning To Win stage regardless of their age but in line with the LTAD model. The new squad model also accounts for the different ITTF eligibility criteria.

The funding priorities are such that they provide our coaches and athletes with a clear understanding of the importance of building a team to compete in the Olympic Games. Success in the team competition will translate into better availability of funds and provide more Canadian athletes with the opportunity to pursue their athletic dreams.

We invite all coaches, staff and parents to carefully read the National Team Selection Policy and contact us if you have questions regarding this policy.

Further, take a careful look at Table Tennis Canada's Athlete Assistance Program policy. The two policies together outline the goals and priorities of Table Tennis Canada's High Performance/National Team program by providing information important to the success of Canadian teams on the international courts.
